Meet Caroline

Meet Caroline

Fresh for spring is our newest yarn, a merino-cashmere-nylon blend that's perfect for sweet and soft accessories! We're delighted to introduce Caroline!

Caroline circle

It is also named for my mother whose middle name was Caroline. She was a wonderful woman who loved yarn and knitting and taught me to knit when I was probably 5-6 years old.

Caroline is lusciously soft, blending super fine merino wool with cashmere and nylon. This fingering weight yarn has a 2-ply construction and works up into a balanced fabric with a graceful halo. You’ll love Caroline in textured or lacy accessories like shawls, cowls, hand warmers, and hats.

There are lots of fingering weight MCN yarns out there. Ours is a little different. We are going to come right out and say it: we don't recommend this yarn for sock knitting. Its two-ply construction and softer structure means it will be lovely against your neck, but won't hold up on your feet.

We've teamed up with some wonderful designers to bring you new patterns in Caroline:

Joji Locatelli has riffed on her popular 3 Color Cashmere Cowl pattern and translated it into a beautiful, easy-to-knit shawl:

Laura Chau has designed Polemonium, a hat and mitts set in a textured stitch pattern. Both the hat and mitts can be completed out of one skein of Caroline.

Trifolia is a top-down, triangular shawl designed by Susanna IC.

Hanna Maciejewska's Alpine Water shawlette is an elegant crescent, shaped with short rows and featuring a combination of lace and cabled stitch patterns.

We are taking most of our stock of Caroline for its big debut at Stitches West next week but have added a little to the website now. More Caroline will be available in March.

As a spinner, I already know I’ll love this heavenly mix. Hope we get to use it on the 2016 tour!
