Frustration for all! Technology is lovely when it works and when it does what we want and what we have asked it to do. It is frustrating when technology decides... Read More
"State of the Studio" - 2015
Babs Ausherman
The POTUS (President of the United States) gets a State of the Union and GOTN (Governor of Tennessee) get a State of the State, I might as well get to have a State of the Studio. 2015 brings us to a bustling year and we are absolutely busting at the seams in the studio in terms of people and yarn as we prep for shows. And we want to thank everyone who participated in the Annual Gratitude Sale! It emptied our racks - which now means I am dyeing madly... Read More
May Musings
Babs Ausherman
As always each year seems to fly by faster and faster.  And here we are in May already, it seems like it was just January and February.  I was counting days in my life (multiplying actually) and realized that given how many days I have already lived, I should have this thing figured out and be more graceful and effective and smooth and...wwll you get the picture.  I still have good days and bad days just like everyone else. I am happy that the irises are blooming and the pileated... Read More
The Flower Garden
Babs Ausherman
Last year in August, we headed off to do what we call our Midwest Tour.  We head to Stitches Midwest in Schaumburg, Il and then a week later we are at Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan, MI.   When we left, I knew that some drainage work was going to be done which would include needing to dig across one of the four tiers of my flower garden.  When I came home, three of the four tiers was covered up by clay dirt and to nicely finish it off, a... New Patterns in Our Yarns!
Babs
There have been several new patterns in our yarns released recently! The newest of these are in the May- July 2012 issue of Cast On, the magazine published by TKGA.   There is the amazingly gorgeous Vlad's Tunic by Arenda Holladay, using our Northumbria DK: [caption id="attachment_1119" align="aligncenter" width="340" caption="Vlad's Tunic by Arenda Holladay"][/caption]   As well as the uniquely constructed Once Around the Ankle Socks by Charles Gandy in our Northumbria Fingering: [caption id="attachment_1120" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Once Around the Ankle by Charles Gandy"][/caption]   A very Northumbria issue!   As... Walk to Work
Babs
I get to walk to work everyday, which is a luxury in my book.  This is especially true after years of commuting to work 30 minutes to an hour, and more for my husband.  True, we had  some shorter 15 minute commutes, but this one is the shortest.  Right now the office is in my house so I even come to my desk in my pj's.  Many of you know I start early most days, before I am ready for real clothes. Yesterday morning's walk to work was one of... Read More
Recovering is a Process
Babs
Haven't written any for awhile as I have been running as fast as I can, and it feels like I am running in slow motion.  This post is going to be a think piece.  I am going to do another one right away so we don't have to dwell on this, but I just need to share some thoughts I have had as I continue to recover from what has been a major loss.  Some of the thoughts are random, some not. First of all, I have much more understanding... Read More
Move to My New Studio
Babs
Space Stolen From My Husband!! I have managed to talk my husband into letting me "Steal" his workshop space and turn it into my Studio. I should be moving in about two weeks! This will be about 800 to 900 square feet, with 3 big sinks, lots of storage area, and more. It is a single room, which will allow it to be utilized for workshops, and all kinds of workspace! My current studio is under 400 square feet and is split between 2 rooms. Pictures will be forthcoming! Read More
