Why we love Katahdin

Why we love Katahdin

This month we're featuring Katahdin as one of our yarns of the month.

Katahdin is a fan favorite in the studio--it's 100% superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool, and it fits into our lineup as a "light" fingering weight.  As Jennifer explains in our video, Bluefaced Leicester fiber has a long staple and luster, which adds depth and a little bit of sheen to Babs' colorways.

We offer Katahdin in a GINORMOUS skein--1750 yards (yep, that's a mile!).  Given its gauge as a light fingering weight yarn, the yardage works nicely for those of us who love to knit shawls--no knots!  There are smaller skeins though, should your project use more than one color.  Katahdin is also available as 600 yard and 437 yard skeins, and then we sometimes have smaller skeins depending on the yardage of the original cone. You can find all available Katahdin on our website.

Katahdin is available in all our dye styles--monochromatic, Babettes, and Wild Irises, and we recommend it for all kinds of projects. The drape of Katahdin means it's a great choice for lacy shawls, cardigans, and more. If you peruse our Project Gallery, you'll see how versatile this yarn truly is. We also have curated a bundle of project ideas for Katahdin on Ravelry.

This month, we're adding swatching samples of Katahdin to your orders--we hope you'll swatch it up and see why we love it so much!
