Fiber Festivals
Fiber festivals can be over whelming, but they are a great way to find out so much more about fiber and yarns. I recommend that you volunteer to help out in some area as a way of being at the event, and starting to connect with other fiber addicts. I have volunteered at Maryland Sheep and Wool in the fleece sales area for the past few years. I have learned a lot as a result.
