Thursday! A Winner and More...
Babs
It's a Thursday, 9 days before Christmas and I have been busy...but first I want to congratulate Anita on putting in the winning comment on the blog in the Tierno giveaway.  She chose Chocolate Roses.  This will go out today! So what have I been up to lately?  Knitting! Among other things.  I have actually finished two projects.  The first in my Annis in Tuscan Clay, which uses just one skein of Yet.  I started this back in the late spring when the pattern initially came out in Knitty.com and... It's Warmer Today!
Babs
Well, warmer is a relative term.  Warmer than yesterday!  So it is supposed to get up to 43 degrees F. today.  Wow! And it is supposed to start snowing again tomorrow.  So today is my window to go outside and dye in pots!  I also dyed outside yesterday - 7 pots.  That's good, but today, I would like to do 14.  Won't happen, but that's what I would like to do. The saying is, "My eyes are always bigger than my mouth." And I suppose that's me..."Go big!" Never do... Read More
Recovering is a Process
Babs
Haven't written any for awhile as I have been running as fast as I can, and it feels like I am running in slow motion.  This post is going to be a think piece.  I am going to do another one right away so we don't have to dwell on this, but I just need to share some thoughts I have had as I continue to recover from what has been a major loss.  Some of the thoughts are random, some not. First of all, I have much more understanding... Read More

Sock Summit is Coming!!
Babs
I just realized this morning that not everyone knows about the Sock Summit that is happening in Portland, Oregon this August.  It is always amazing when you have something going on in your life (in a consuming type fashion) and you realize that, Oh my Gawd, you don't know about that?!?  So here's where I try and let folks know about this very big event that is coming up.  This first Sock Summit is being organized by Tina of Blue Moon Fiber Arts fame (Socks that Rock) and Stephanie McPhee of  The Yarn Harlot... End of May - Getting Ready for June
Babs
Planting needs to happen! I need to get the rest of the tomato plants in, and all of the flowers I bought last week at Susan's.  Susan is a member of my fiber guild. Plus I have a knockout rose that I need to put in.  I like to have real flowers at my shows and this one is Stitches South.  It was loaded with blooms.  I need to get the dead blooms cut off and get it into the ground! Jen, one of the gals who works with me - she... Read More
Spinning Green Kettle-Dyed Fiber!!
Babs
Well, I am not sure if you realize it or not, but I LOVE the color green!  I dyed this fiber about a month ago, right before Stitches South.  I thought I would spin some for socks.  This may take me awhile, but I thought you might like to see how it spins and knits up. Here is a picture of the top before I started doing anything to it. BFL stands for Blue Face Leicester, which is a breed of sheep. Sun Made a Showing!
Babs
Yesterday started out the same as so many days lately - rainy!  I know I should not complain about the rain, and how it is restoring water levels to the good finally.  However, the Great Golden Orb did show up in the afternoon.  I was able to take a walk around the property and assess what needs to be done (some will get done and some won't!!) Here's some of the gardens that obviously need some cleaning out.  That's the studio in the background. [caption id="" align="alignright" width="225" caption="Studio Gardens"][/caption]   [caption... Show Preparations...Getting Ready to Go....
Babs
We have been busy dyeing and reskeining and labeling and just generally in the last throes of heading to a show. Here's some of the yarn we will be bringing to the show. and more yarn: and some fiber: I have been trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that we are taking "everything" to the show, and whether to "zero" all quantities available to buy on the website as they may be gone by the end of the show. I don't have a separate inventory for... Read More
Late Spring Use of the Woodstove
Babs
What a Way to Treat a Woodstove! At the end of spring, I had a bunch of yarns that needed a resting spot to do that last bit of drying - and the woodstove came in handy! I think it looks great dressed up this way! These are some cotton and rayon yarns that will be coming soon to the website. Read More
