We're going to squeak in at the very end of October with more of what we've been working on! In between and around our Rhinebeck sweaters, there's been room for... Read More
Poly Chevron Cowl Color Ideas
Jennifer Krause
I created the Poly Chevron Cowl as a way to bring together the colors in our Polydactyl Sets for an accessory that's easy to knit and wear. This cowl is knit in the round, using a provisional cast on, and the two ends are grafted together. I got a chance to play with some yarn this morning and put together some other color combinations that might make a great Poly Chevron Cowl - check them out!  Read More

Blog Tour: New Patterns from Knit Play Colour
Veronica Parsons
Today we're excited to dive into color and bring you new patterns from Louise Zass-Bangham of Inspiration Knits. Louise has written a new book, Knit Play Colour, that takes a collection of patterns and shows you how you can take an idea and push and pull it into different directions for different effects.  We are always playing with color and mixing up new color combinations, so we love the spirit of Louise's new book. Featured on the cover is Affinity, which stripes two skeins of fingering weight yarn. Depending on what you choose,... Read More
Short Row Knits Blog Tour: Zapote jacket and German Short Rows
Veronica Parsons
We're delighted to have our yarn featured in Carol Feller's latest book, Short Row Knits. This book features a great technique section detailing four types of short row methods as well as twenty knitting patterns including a variety of sweaters and accessories. As part of the blog tour, today we'll be taking a closer look at Zapote, a children's jacket, as well as the German short row technique. The Zapote jacket is knit from the top down using German short rows to shape the hood. The shoulders are shaped in one... Read More
Leftie Shawlette Edging Technique
Helen C
Leftie is great... except for all those ends. As the pattern is written, each contrast color stripe is a separate bit of yarn, leaving you to weave in dozens and dozens of yarn tails. Fantastic for using up leftovers, but what if you want to work the contrast color stripes and leaves in one ball of yarn? Helen has a solution. Read More

Emergency Car Knitting
Helen C
It's every knitter's nightmare: being stranded somewhere without knitting!  Or at least it's my nightmare. Last week on my way to work (it's a winding 2-lane highway through the hills) I got stuck behind a car accident with no real way around it. Luckily, I had my current sock-in-progress with me, and there was enough knitting left to get me through the 45 minute wait. But it got me thinking... what if I'd only had the toe decreases left? How would I have managed the other 30 minutes of sitting in... Read More
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
Babs Ausherman
Thank you all for a wonderful 2014! I find myself at this time of the year, like most years, taking stock of what has just passed and my hopes for the future. This year, like many in the recent past, has been a whirlwind. And, like most years there have been ups and downs, but it is important to keep putting one foot in front of the other.   I also take time to count my blessings and to consider what I have to be thankful for in the year that has... Martina's Easy Scarf
Babs Ausherman
I have been having fun knitting Martina's relatively new pattern called Easy.  It was designed in one skein of Zauberball which has a yardage of approximately 460 yards.  However, I chose to knit this with 2 different skeins of Kilimanjaro 437.  The first time I knit this, I used Ebony and Ansel.  I love this combination because I wear so much black and it makes a bold and striking statement.  Here's Jen modeling the scarves.     But the problem is that you can't see the change in direction that...
