New Colors for Fall 2015
Veronica Parsons
While brights have been very popular for the last few years - and bright colors are some of our best sellers! - we've been working to develop new colorways that have a slightly more neutral undertone. We think a neutral undertone gives depth and interest, makes the colors more wearable, (especially in larger garments like sweaters), and also helps colors coordinate and blend. Here are five of our newest colors for Fall 2015: Read More
Gradient Sets - Now with 6 Colors
Veronica Parsons
We love gradients and we love seeing all the ways people use them to create beautiful and interesting projects. Some of our favorite gradient patterns, like The Joker and the Thief, require six colors in the gradient, and we only had five in our sets, leading to annoying searches for that last perfect color.  Search no more! We've decided to transition our Gradient Sets (with the exception of Gemstones) to 6 skeins of graduated color - and a total of 798 yards - per set. In the case of Enlightenment,... Read More

Jennifer is beginning to learn about weaving! In order to be able to help our customers who may want to use our yarns to create with weaving, she's beginning at square one with a big rigid heddle loom - a Kromski Harp - and some Northumbria Fingering.  Read on to see her first weaving project... While we're not working on our Rhinebeck sweaters, here's what else is on our needles... actually in most cases, what's just come off our needles! We have lots of FOs to share. Read More
It's September - Does That Mean It's Fall?
Babs Ausherman
How did it get to be September? Does that mean it's Fall? Oh my, oh my! Gotta make yarn, gotta make yarn as fast as we can! And yes, it really does feel like the pressure to create treasures for our customers does go up when it gets to September.  It is only 6 weeks until Rhinebeck, we have a trunk show next weekend (September 11-13) at fibre space in Alexandria, VA, and SAFF is 2 weekends after Rhinebeck, and a Trunk Show at Bliss Yarns near Nashville, TN in November... "State of the Studio" - 2015
Babs Ausherman
The POTUS (President of the United States) gets a State of the Union and GOTN (Governor of Tennessee) get a State of the State, I might as well get to have a State of the Studio. 2015 brings us to a bustling year and we are absolutely busting at the seams in the studio in terms of people and yarn as we prep for shows. And we want to thank everyone who participated in the Annual Gratitude Sale! It emptied our racks - which now means I am dyeing madly... Read More
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
Babs Ausherman
Thank you all for a wonderful 2014! I find myself at this time of the year, like most years, taking stock of what has just passed and my hopes for the future. This year, like many in the recent past, has been a whirlwind. And, like most years there have been ups and downs, but it is important to keep putting one foot in front of the other.   I also take time to count my blessings and to consider what I have to be thankful for in the year that has... Martina's Easy Scarf
Babs Ausherman
I have been having fun knitting Martina's relatively new pattern called Easy.  It was designed in one skein of Zauberball which has a yardage of approximately 460 yards.  However, I chose to knit this with 2 different skeins of Kilimanjaro 437.  The first time I knit this, I used Ebony and Ansel.  I love this combination because I wear so much black and it makes a bold and striking statement.  Here's Jen modeling the scarves.     But the problem is that you can't see the change in direction that... My, Oh My...the Year Has Flown By Fast!!
Babs Ausherman
I simply cannot believe that we are here in December and I am thinking about cleaning out and starting fresh. I know, I know I am a bit early with this, but last weekend I managed to clean one of my attics out (yes, there are two of them in my house on either side of the knee walls.) In part, I needed to do this is because there is enough stuff in there that it's hard to get at the Christmas decorations, and also because I feel a need... Read More
Winner from the Last Post
Helen C
We picked the winner from our Thanksgiving giveaway today, and I couldn't be happier with the wisdom of the Random Number Generator!    The winning comment was from Sandra J: "I’m thankful that after nearly a year and a half of being out of work, I got a job last month! Don’t make enough to buy yarn right now, but I’m also thankful that I have a stash and a future."   I have emailed her to ask which color of Ephemeral she would like, and we will be sending...
