On The Road and At the Studio
Babs Ausherman
Babs here...Jen and I are on the road between Stitches Midwest and Michigan Fiber Festival.  At home, it has been raining cats and dogs and frogs.  Roads, and driveways, and basements are full of water!  Here's a picture Carmen took this morning of one of the roads in to where my house and studio are.     Apparently the road from the other direction has the asphalt coming up from it and and will be turning into a mud/clay mess?? The real reason for this post is to let you... Read More
Acer Cardigan in Progress
Veronica Parsons
Stitches Midwest is coming up fast and I'm working on my Acer Cardigan as a new sample for our booth! I'm knitting it in Yowza in Oyster, which is a soft warm grey. Yowza is probably my favorite yarn to knit sweaters out of (and one day I'll get to keep one for myself - so far they have all been samples.) Acer is a lovely cardigan by Amy Christoffers with some cable-and-lace detail. I've actually had it in my queue to knit for a long time, so I was... Read More
Here We Go Up Again
Babs
Well, we've been putting this off for a while, but the time has finally come that some of our yarn prices need to be adjusted upward.  This decision was forced when one of our yarn bases went up almost almost 25% about 2 months ago.  It was just as we were packing yarn to ship to the West Coast for Stitches West.  That jump forced me to sit down and really look at the increases that have been happening in the past two years on most of my yarn bases.... It's nearly time ...

The 2013 Knitting Tour is nearly here! 2012 has been a wonderful year of armchair travel, exploration, and of course knitting!   In the spring, we visited the Seychelles Islands with Susanna IC and knit this lovely lightweight lace shawlette with beads in Yet. [caption id="attachment_1293" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Seychelles by Susanna IC[/caption]   The summer took us to the moors with Romi, with a textured shawl in Yummy 3-ply Sport. It's Been 4 Years.....
Babs
Since we’ve made any changes to the basic prices on any of our yarns.  There have been many price increases from all of our yarn and dye and fiber and other suppliers during that time, and we have been able to absorb them without passing them on to our customers.  However, because wool is bought and sold like other commodities (oil, steel, wheat, etc…), the price is affected by those same global factors that make the nightly news.  Wool prices have increased significantly this year with some of the prices... The Monogamy Project
Babs
[caption id="attachment_638" align="alignleft" width="420" caption="the monogamy project"][/caption] jen here... Have no doubt that I'll use any excuse to cast on something new!  This is Just Enough Ruffles by Laura Chau in Yowza.  The New part of this project in not the fact that it's newly cast-on or that it's newly purchased.  Nope!  The new part is that I'm going to FINISH it before I start anything else!  What?  Is that doubtful laughter I hear from the back row?  Or was that in my own head... Come back in a day... Read More
Another Project Done!
Babs
I absolutely cannot believe it!  I have knit another project and it is done blocking.  Now admittedly it is a small project.  Simple Things by Mary-Heather Cogar, which I did in Yowza instead of fingering weight which is what the pattern calls for. I used size 9 needles and it gave a wonderful fabric - just right for a small shoulder shawl.  The beauty of this pattern is that it is a great way to show off variegated yarns AND it is a quick knit!  which is great right now...
