Spot clean any new blemishes with your favorite gentle soap.
About the quilt pattern: Hawaiian applique quilts grew in popularity in the late 1800s. While missionaries are credited with teaching Hawaiians how to quilt with fabric, the applique design is more indigenous than previously thought and stems from the Hawaiian traditional bed covering Kapa Moe--whole-cloth bed coverings that were dyed and stamped with a singular pattern.
