Tierno is a new yarn for us! Actually we added this yarn earlier this fall and have only had it available at shows. Tierno is 70% Baby Alpaca and 30% Cultivated Silk. Each skein has 310 yards and knits at a DK gauge. It is sweetly soft and ideal for those who have wool allergies.
We now have it listed on the website and will be adding more colors and colorways over the next few months. I knitted a scarf with Tierno using Anne Hanson's Rivolo. It was a pleasant knit, with a lovely feel as it flowed through my fingers. Alpaca takes the colors in a more muted way, so these yarns have a luscious color softness as well as being soft to the touch.

We will be giving away a skein of Tierno to a randomly picked person who comments on the blog between now and 12 noon EST on Wednesday, December 15 .
NOTE: Your comment should include which color of Tierno you like the best and indicate what you would like to make with it.
And just so you can see what is happening in the mountains of East Tennessee. They have predicted a total of 8 plus inches of snow!

The yarn looks so beautiful and soft! I think The Rose Collection would make a beautiful scarf or cowl for my mother. She is 84 and doesn’t really like heavy wools but I think she would enjoy something lighter and those colors would be gorgeous on her! :)
… you mean I have to PICK? :D I like ALL the colors, but if I had to pick ONE I think I’d go with Wisteria. I recently chopped off my hair and now have a cold neck, so I would make a cowl!
Yikes, I hope that snow clears up in time for me to get home for Christmas!
My favorite colorway is spring lettuce because it reminds me that it won’t always be cold! Alpaca blends are great for warm accessories so I’d probably make a cabled hat that makes me think of spring!
LOVING the idea of Tierno!!! There is an entralac scarf in my Ravelry queue that is begging me to make it in Fraser green! :)
The colors are all so gorgeous and hard to pick just one. So I had to go with my favorite name – A Day At Cape Cod. Went to Cape Cod on my honeymoon many years ago. I would make a cowl – as I’m sure this yarn would feel so good around your neck. Love all the colors and hope to knit with this soon!
