October 2012 - Shows and New Introductions!!

It's been awfully quiet here on the blog...because so much has been happening that there simply hasn't been time to write!!  But here's what is Happening!!

Rhinebeck! and SAFF!

Rhinebeck is also known as the New York Sheep & Wool Festival and the full name of SAFF is Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair.

With 2 shows in 2 weeks, I have been dyeing everything in sight for Rhinebeck and SAFF!

Big Orange (our trailer) is getting packed for our trip to upstate New York.  We'll be in the same place as last year, Booths C25-26. We're bringing lots of yarn and fiber!

Here's some of the yarn drying after dyeing and washing!!

Everything from Yowza and Yummy to our new sock base - *Cosmic*.  We will have plenty of sets of yarn for making the popular Color Affection Shawl and the Leftie Shawlette.

In fiber, we have Blue Face Leicester (BFL), BFL and Silk blend, plus luscious Merino blends! And don't forget Silk Hankies!

And don't think if you are coming to SAFF that we won't have plenty for you to pick from!!  We have pulled plenty of yarn and put it in boxes marked for SAFF.

New Yarns!!

We will be bringing THREE new yarns to Rhinebeck and SAFF.  They will debut on our website shortly thereafter.

Goodbye Windsor, Hello *Cosmic*!!

We can no longer get the base we were using for Windsor from the mill - so we have found a new source.  The new Cosmic is the same makeup as Windsor - 400 yards, 4 ounces, 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon for durability - but with a slightly bouncier twist that we are sure you'll love.  *Cosmic* is perfect for all your sock projects.  We'll have many Babettes (one of a kind colors) Halloween colors, and standard colorways to choose from!

So what's in a name?? Windsor is my husband's middle name, and the Cosmic Ballroom in Asheville, NC was where we met 34 years ago!

HEARTLAND WORSTED

Heartland is an incredibly soft and wonderful worsted weight merino wool, perfect for sweater and accessories that you'll wear next to the skin.  It comes in 250 yard, 4 ounce skeins.  We'll have Heartland in over 20 colors.

Here's my Road Trip Scarf #1 that I started on a road trip we took in mid-September this year.

HUES

Hues is Heartland's fingering-weight cousin - the same soft merino wool.  We've put it up in small skeins - 115 yards, 8/10 of an ounce and dyed a family of monochromes for all your colorwork projects.  Think mittens, gloves, hats, and cowls!

See you soon!!

I like the color ways in the picture of Cosmic also. Where can I get them?

Dawn Jones

Not sure…some of them are Babettes…and will be gone after this weekend!

Miss Babs

Seems like quite a lot of the Yet yarn colors are marked “0 available”…..is that because they were taken to the shows in NY, and will you be re-posing available quantities soon? Thanks!!

Lin R.

Yes…we will have Yet back up in the next few days!!

Miss Babs
