Coming into the home stretch...2 week projects

Coming into the home stretch...2 week projects

It's almost December and the holidays are fast approaching, but really there's no need for panic.  You have plenty of time to whip up something lovely, even with all your other to-dos on that list.

This week we'll focus on hats, because really, who couldn't use a good hat? They're versatile, not so size-specific, and a fairly fast project. Some, especially those with finer yarns on smaller needles or textured stitches, may take a smidge longer, but the results are totally worth it. You can use up leftovers, indulge in a luxurious fiber, or anywhere in between.

Hand's down, Babs' Mash It Up hat (free on Ravelry) is a studio favorite. The best part--you can totally use all your Yummy 2-Ply scraps! This sample, Babs' latest, uses Blackbird, Petrified Forest and a (no longer available) Wild Iris.

Ivy's been busy with her hat projects as well.

She's knit several of the Kingsley Hat by Andrea Mowry using one skein of Madison (recently our featured yarn--you can read more here) in Sagrada.

Ivy's other favorite pattern is Kleger, by Skein Heroine; she chose a Yowza Mini in Rock Sparrow for this sample.

And Veronica just finished Hat and Peak by Maxim Cyr. The colorwork keeps you interested and eager to see what's next! She used leftovers of Yummy 3-Ply and Killington in Quicksilver, Nori, Cloak, and Forever.

With just about two weeks of knitting time, take a second look at hats--they're super quick and versatile (pro tip: sometimes just switching out the colorway creates an entirely different vibe), and make wonderful gifts.
