Miaz

Designed by Kirsten-Michele

Miaz is a vest worked from the bottom up. Double ribbing is worked at the hem, then the body is worked up to the underarms in the round. At the underarms, the work is divided into front and back, and the top of the vest is then worked in st st back and forth. Bind off stitches are used to shape the underarms and neckline, and the stitches at the shoulders are joined with 3 needle bind off. Finally, stitches are picked up around the arms and neckline, and double ribbing is worked to finish the vest. The motif for Miaz was inspired by embroidery from the Kurpie region of Poland, and although the embroidery was traditionally in red or black thread, I chose to interpret their patterns into a 4 colour design.
