Navran

Designed by Kirsten-Michele

Navran is a top-down seamless yoke sweater that is knit in the round. There is a double folded ribbed neckline followed by short rows at the back of the neck for a comfortable fit. The yoke features stranded, textured colorwork that has been designed in the Bohus stickning tradition. There is optional waist and hip shaping to add feminine shape, and the hem and wrist cuffs are finished off with ribbing. Navran is slightly cropped at the waist. Bohus Stickning is a style developed in southwestern Sweden, which began in the late 1930’s during the depression as a handmade, homemade industry, where under the direction of Emma Jacobson (wife of the governor of Bohuslan), local women developed a way to supplement the meagre family income of the time. After the 2nd World War with the global economic upturn, the knitting cooperative expanded its range and developed into a thriving international business with a notable presence in the fashion industry with its high end garments. The organization was in operation until 1969.
