Thursday - Where did the week go?
Babs Ausherman
It's Thursday already!  The week is almost gone and there is still lots to do!  I have some random things that need to be shared: We will select a winner for Helen's blog post the other day sometime today and post here and on Facebook and Ravelry. We are ramping up for shows in the Midwest and lots of things are being dyed, so we have started the pre-show frenzy that hits us periodically through the year. Jen and Jen are going to Nashville tomorrow for SSK - Super Summer... Read More
It Is A Puzzlement
Helen C
Sometimes, working for Babs is a dangerous thing. Getting to see all the gorgeous new Babettes hanging to dry, it is hard not to put little notes everywhere "Helen wants this one" "Hold for Helen" "DON'T TOUCH!" (I actually did this a week or two ago, for a skein of Gold Digger Yasmin. It just REALLY NEEDED to come home with me!!)   I've been practicing restraint, and the fact that I publicly announced my yarn diet at the beginning of the year means I get in trouble with Jen... Daylilies in the Garden
Babs Ausherman
Here are some of the daylilies that are blooming right now in my garden.  I don't know the names of any of them, as I picked them for their colors and some were gifts.                 The wonderful thing about my daylilies are that they are right across the drive from the studio and add wonderful color to my day.  My sister Jeanne and I planted many of these about 10 years ago in memory of my mother - who loved to garden and see things grow.... Viajante! Coming Down to the End!
Babs Ausherman
My current project is a Viajante, a Martina Behm design.  She knit it out of Wollmeise lace and I am knitting it out of my Yasmin Lace. The shawl/overgarment (I'm not sure how it will fit me) has been one of those long knits that I have absolutely enjoyed.       Yasmin is wonderful in the hands...I am sure that is part of the enjoyment, but it is also one of those projects I can pick up at the end of the day and just keep knitting without having... The Flower Garden
Babs Ausherman
Last year in August, we headed off to do what we call our Midwest Tour.  We head to Stitches Midwest in Schaumburg, Il and then a week later we are at Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan, MI.   When we left, I knew that some drainage work was going to be done which would include needing to dig across one of the four tiers of my flower garden.  When I came home, three of the four tiers was covered up by clay dirt and to nicely finish it off, a... Yarn and... Molasses?
Helen C
Helen here...    My family has always been slightly different in our pastimes. Writing stories, knitting, silversmithing, woodworking, antique photographic processes, exercise, we've tried it all. My younger sister's latest thing is taking photos with a jar of Molasses. There is a long, crazy story explaining this, which you can find on her Molasses Tumbler page.    At any rate, wherever she goes, and wherever other members of my family go, Molasses photos are taken. (I abstain. I'm not a huge molasses fan. Sticky things don't do well with yarn,... Read More

Here We Go Up Again
Babs
Well, we've been putting this off for a while, but the time has finally come that some of our yarn prices need to be adjusted upward.  This decision was forced when one of our yarn bases went up almost almost 25% about 2 months ago.  It was just as we were packing yarn to ship to the West Coast for Stitches West.  That jump forced me to sit down and really look at the increases that have been happening in the past two years on most of my yarn bases.... New Colors for Spring 2013
Babs
I'm pleased to announce several new monochrome colors for Spring 2013. You can see them first this weekend at Stitches West, in booths 726-825-823! First, we have some sophisticated neutrals, shown here on our Yummy 2-Ply fingering weight 100% merino (from left to right): Provence, somewhere between grey and lavender, cool with a touch of color; Birchwood, a pale taupe, and Lycan, a versatile medium gray.   New Babettes are happening all the time. Each skein marked with a pink Babette sticker is unique and typically cannot be reproduced. The color combinations happen with... Read More
All Aboard! Miss Babs 2013 Knitting Tour
Babs Ausherman
We've had a blast on the 2012 Knitting Tour, and are now pleased to invite you to join us on our second year of the Miss Babs Knitting Tour! We don't want to give away too much, so all we will say at present is that we will again visit 4 locations. This year there are 2 islands, 3 cities, and 2 continents, mostly in the Northern Hemisphere. We will travel in March, June, September, and December, giving you plenty of time to explore (and knit in!) each stop.   This past year we visited... Read More
Not Yet Winter...
Babs
As the year is drawing to a close, we are busy.  Here is Wurm in Biker Chick and Blackbird Yummy 2 ply on the needles and almost finished! Here is a finished one!  I told you we are busy!  This one is again Yummy 2 ply, but this one is a Babette named Origami.   One more brag off the needles is the Denver Cowl, designed by Veronica and completed with one skein of Yowza.   Busy planning for next year's shows, dye schedule, and Knitting Tour. Busy making sure... Read More
It's nearly time ...
Babs
The 2013 Knitting Tour is nearly here! 2012 has been a wonderful year of armchair travel, exploration, and of course knitting!   In the spring, we visited the Seychelles Islands with Susanna IC and knit this lovely lightweight lace shawlette with beads in Yet. [caption id="attachment_1293" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Seychelles by Susanna IC[/caption]   The summer took us to the moors with Romi, with a textured shawl in Yummy 3-ply Sport.
